To make Mulled Wine (six servings), you will need:
- a bottle of red wine such as Merlot, Zinfandel or Garnacha
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 6 whole cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- An orange peel cut into strips
- A lemon peel cut into strings
- 1 cup ruby port
- 1 cup Brandy
How to Make Mulled Wine
In a saucepan (one that isn’t aluminum), add the wine, brown sugar, cloves, cinnamon, orange peel, and lemon peel and bring to a simmer while stirring regularly. Simmer for 10 minutes then stir in brandy and the port just long enough for it to heat through. Remove from the heat and serve in mugs.
