Wine slushies are so versatile, you can use the combination of frozen fruit, wine and simple syrup to make dozens of delicious recipes:  these Strawberry Wine SlushiesCherry Red Wine Slushies and Triple Berry Wine Slushies are some flavorful favorites. This patriotic slush boasts not one, not two, but three flavors of wine. It’s the perfect cocktail to serve up at your Fourth of July picnic!

WHAT INGREDIENTS DO I NEED TO MAKE RED, WHITE AND BLUE SLUSHIES?

Each layer is deliciously different, so let’s start with BLUE:

  • For the blue layer, you’ll need blue wine. If you can’t find blue wine, you can always use a good white wine and a little blue food coloring. The result is the perfect color of patriotic blue!
  • Frozen bananas

For the WHITE layer:

And for the RED:

  • Use a beautiful rose wine
  • Frozen red tart cherries. They’ll create the perfect red color for this cocktail.
  • Simple syrup

HOW TO MAKE PATRIOTIC WINE SLUSHIES

These beauties take a little time to prepare, so make sure to plan ahead. Make these the night before your big bash, freeze, and they’ll be ready to go by party time.

For the BLUE layer:

  • Combine blue wine and frozen bananas in a blender.
  • If it’s not blue enough for you, add a couple drops of blue food coloring until it’s reached the perfect hue you’re going for.
  • Freeze the whole thing in a freezer-safe container overnight.
  • You’ll want to blend it up once again before layering into your serving glasses.
  • Note: when blending up on the day of serving, make sure to wash your blender thoroughly in between colors, so any residual blue doesn’t affect your white mixture.

For the WHITE layer:

  • Combine white wine and sweetened coconut milk in the blender.
  • Freeze overnight.
  • When ready to serve, give it another good blend.
  • Gently spoon mixture over the blue wine in your serving glasses.

For the RED layer:

  • Combine the sweet rose wine with tart frozen red cherries and half a cup of simple syrup in the blender.
  • Freeze overnight.
  • On party day, blend it once again
  • Gently spoon your cherry red mixture over the white layer.

Red Layer

  • 2 cups Rose
  • 3 cups frozen tart cherries (see note)
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup

Instructions

Blue Layer

  • In a blender combine the blue wine and frozen bananas. Blend to combine. And a few drops of blue food coloring and blend. Continue adding blue food coloring until desired color is achieved.
  • Freeze overnight.
  • Before serving, blend. Add to the glasses as the first layer.

White Layer

  • Blend together the white wine and the sweetened coconut milk until smooth.
  • Freeze overnight.
  • Before serving, blend. Using a spoon, gently spoon the white layer onto the blue layer.

Red Layer

  • Blend together the frozen cherries, Rose, and simple syrup until well combined.
  • Before serving, blend. Using a spoon, gently spoon the red layer onto the white layer a little at a time.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

If you can't find blue wine, you can substitute white (like a Moscato or a Riesling) and us more blue food coloring.
If you would rather not use food coloring, you can use the following and follow the instructions for the red layer.
  • 2 cups sweet white wine
  • 3 cups frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup
For the red layer you can use dark red frozen cherries, but the color will be deeper and darker red.
