The classic Mojito is a popular rum cocktail that originates from Cuba. Fragrant fresh mint leaves compliment light rum along with bubbly club soda, tart lime juice, and simple syrup to create a cocktail that is delightfully refreshing and delicious! This recipe is balanced and just sweet enough, making it perfect for an evening on the patio or when you need your thirst quenched!

This Mojito recipe is super easy to make at home and has a beautiful presentation that makes it look like a fancy drink you would order at a restaurant or bar. It is fizzy, slightly sweet, and minty-fresh! If you like your cocktail more on the fruity side, try this Pineapple Mojito or Passion Fruit Mojito!

Mojito Ingredients

To make a mojito at home, you will need to gather the following ingredients. When possible, use fresh ingredients to create a cocktail that is extra refreshing! For the full recipe, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • 1 ounce simple syrup (this homemade recipe is best and is very easy to make)
  • Just shy of an ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 6 to 8 mint leaves
  • 2 ounces light rum
  • 4 ounces club soda (or enough to top your glass)
  • Ice (a classic Mojito is best ice cold!)

How to Make a Mojito

  1. First, add the simple syrup, lime juice, and mint leaves to a glass.
  2. Using a cocktail muddler or the end of a wooden spoon, gently mash the mint a few times to combine.
  3. Pour the rum into the glass. Add ice and stir
  4. Top with club soda and enjoy!

How to Serve

Serving a classic mint mojito in a highball or collins glass will house all ingredients as well as show off the visual beauty the drink offers. Serve with lots of ice and garnish with extra mint leaves and slices of lime if preferred!

Ingredients

Instructions

  • In a glass add the mint leaves, simple syrup and lime juice.
  • Muddle to combine.
  • Pour in the rum.
  • Add the ice to top.
  • Stir.
  • Top with club soda and enjoy.
