If you’re worried about this drink being too sweet, fear no more. The rich, smooth almond flavor pairs beautifully with homemade sweet and sour mix. Orange juice adds a citrusy and refreshing layer that ties it all together.

Amaretto Stone Sour Ingredients

This is a super simple recipe with equal parts of all three ingredients, making it easy to memorize. For the full recipe, see the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Amaretto: The smooth almond flavor of this nutty liqueur is the star of this cocktail. Did you know you can even make your own Homemade Amaretto Liqueur? It makes a great addition to your bar cart or homemade gift.
  • Sweet and sour mix: Making your own is so simple and avoids the extra additives that the store-bought stuff contains, making its flavor extra refreshing. Plus it can be used in a million other cocktails (like this Strawberry Margarita and Midori Sour)!
  • Orange juice: Tops off the cocktail and makes it a great option for brunch. Use your favorite orange juice, one without pulp is recommended.

Sweet and Sour Mix

Made with a few lemons, limes, and some planning, this homemade sweet and sour mix is so refreshing and perfect for your favorite sour cocktails and margaritas!

Amaretto Stone Sour vs. Amaretto Sour

While the amaretto stone sour and amaretto sour could be considered “cocktail cousins”, a couple of simple differences set them apart. The classic amaretto sour is topped with a lemon-lime soda such as 7Up, while the amaretto stone sour contains orange juice instead.
