Cherry Moscow Mule Ingredients

A Moscow mule is a combination of just a few ingredients! For the full recipe including all measurements, see the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Vodka: Use a good quality vodka that you enjoy the flavor of. Our favorite vodka for Moscow mules is Titos.
  • Ginger beer: A must-have for any Moscow Mule, ginger beer adds a spicy, robust kick that complements the lime and cherry flavors. See more on your options below.
  • Lime juice: Freshly squeezed lime juice adds a zesty tang that balances the sweetness of the grenadine and enhances the overall flavor profile. It’s essential for that classic Moscow Mule tartness.
  • Grenadine: The bright red pomegranate-flavored syrup adds the “cherry” flavor to this Moscow mule recipe.

How to Make a Cherry Moscow Mule

Here is a brief overview of how this cherry mule comes together. Be sure to scroll to the recipe card below for the full recipe.

  1. Start with lots of ice. Fill your copper mug or glass with lots of ice.
  2. Combine ingredients. Add the vodka, lime juice, and grenadine to the mug.
  3. Top with ginger beer. Gently stir and garnish with a cherry and lime wedge. Enjoy!

Recipe Variation

For an extra cherry punch, swap the plain vodka for cherry-flavored vodka. If you make this switch, you may want to reduce or eliminate the grenadine all together depending on how sweet you like your cocktails.

Ginger Beer for Moscow Mules

People will argue about the best ginger beer for a Moscow mule, and you have a few options that will work well. Crabbies is delicious and generally easy to find, though we have a local loyalty to Sprecher Hard Ginger Beer, which is pictured here. Both of those options contain alcohol.

If you find that alcoholic ginger beer makes it too strong for you, or if you like your drinks a little sweeter, you might want to try replacing it with ginger ale. It is delicious, easy to find, and makes for a slightly less strong cocktail.

Moscow Mule Mugs

Moscow mules are known for being served in copper mugs like you see in the photos. Not only does the copper metal keep the drink nice and cool, but the cool temperature of the drink makes the mug itself cold.

Plus, they look pretty cool. While it isn’t a requirement to serve your cherry Moscow mule in a copper mug, we definitely prefer ours that way.  You can find the pictured mugs below.
