A touch of dry ice makes the shots bubble and smoke which makes this science experiment extra eerie and festive! For other spooky Halloween shots, try these Frankenstein Shot!

How to Make Mad Scientist Shots

Made with an equal 1:1 ratio of vodka and colorful liqueur, there is no shaking or mixing required. With an ounce of vodka and an ounce of colorful liqueur in each shot, it is easy to make a few shots or enough for a crowd.

  1. Combine the liqueur and the vodka in tall test tubes. These test tubes work great.
  2. To make them smoke, add a small piece of dry ice to each tube.

Liqueur Ideas to Make Mad Scientist Shots

  • Blue Curaçao for a blue shot
  • Grenadine for a red shot
  • Banana liqueur for a yellow shot
  • Apple liqueur for a green shot.

These liqueurs can be used alone (in addition to the vodka), or mixed and matched to create other colors. For example, use half an ounce of each of Blue Curaçao and Grenadine for a purple shot.

Tips and Tricks

If using dry ice to make them smoke, be careful not to overfill the test tube with liqueur. Do NOT drink until the dry ice is completely gone.

  • Sweet and bubbly, the Drunk Ghost cocktail is festive and delicious.
  • The Drunk Pumpkin fall cocktail is bubbly and refreshing with a splash of the pumpkin spice flavor we all know and love.
