This Tropical Margarita Sangria recipe is a fun twist on traditional sangria. Combining the delightful flavor of a tropical cocktail and a margarita, this is such a delicious and easy cocktail recipe!

There’s nothing quite like a refreshing glass of amazing sangria to transport you to a tropical paradise, even if you’re just relaxing at home. Tropical sangria is the perfect blend of fruity flavors and a touch of wine, making it an ideal drink for summer parties, backyard barbecues, or simply to unwind after a long day. This easy-to-make recipe combines the sweetness of tropical fruits with the crispness of white wine, creating a vibrant and delicious beverage that’s sure to impress your guests.

Tropical Sangria Ingredients

This recipe combines two of our favorites: margaritas and sangria! We took the makings of a margarita: tequila, triple sec, and lime juice, then added in some pineapple juice, white wine, and fresh fruit to make an amazing tropical sangria. For the full recipe including the measurements of each ingredient, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Sparkling wine: A bottle of sparkling white wine is the base of this sangria recipe. There are some brands on the market that are sparkling white blends but aren’t Champagne. Otherwise, you could just use a sweet white blend. The sweeter the wine, the sweeter your sangria will be.
  • Tequila: Anytime you are getting tequila for a cocktail, choose a bottle that is labeled 100% agave. Agave is what tequila is made from, so this ensures that you are getting the best quality without added fillers.
  • Triple sec: An orange-flavored liqueur that is a key ingredient in margaritas.
  • Pineapple juice: Adds a sweet and tropical flavor to the sangria.
  • Simple syrup: Adding just enough sweetness to the sangria, it is so easy to make your own simple syrup at home! See more on adjusting the sweetness of sangria below.
  • Sliced fresh fruit: Adds a pop of color and even more tropical flavors to the sangria. We used a combination of kiwi, oranges, pineapple, and strawberries. While you could use frozen fruit if fresh fruit isn’t in season, it won’t look as vibrant as the fruit in the photos.

How to Make Tropical Margarita Sangria

Here is how easily this white wine sangria recipe comes together. For the full recipe including all measurements and ingredients, see the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  1. Combine everything in a pitcher. Use chilled ingredients and pour them into the pitcher you plan to serve the sangria in. Stir to combine.
  2. Add fresh fruit. Enjoy!

Pro tip!

Use chilled ingredients so that the sangria is cold without having to be diluted with ice.

Adjusting the Sweetness of Sangria

If you are looking for a slightly sweeter drink, you could add more simple syrup or use a sweet white wine like sparkling Moscato. I recommend starting with 1/4 cup simple syrup, tasting the sangria, and adding more a little at a time until it is sweet enough for you.

How to Serve

While some sangria recipes are better after sitting in the refrigerator overnight, this one is best to enjoy fresh which makes it a great recipe to throw together as guests arrive or for a last-minute party! Serve your sangria in glass tumblers (stemless or regular wine glasses work great) with a sugared rim. Garnish with a slice of pineapple, a cherry, and any other fruit you want to add to each glass, and enjoy right away.

FAQ

Can I make this ahead of time?

I don’t recommend making this more than one day in advance. The longer it sits, the less pretty the strawberries and kiwi will be. If you make it more than a few hours in advance, wait to add the fresh fruit until just before serving. If you make it in advance, keep it in the refrigerator so it stays cold.

Can I use different fruit?

Absolutely! If you don’t like kiwi or strawberries, leave them out and replace them with something else that you think would be delicious.

    • Nathan Longley says

Probably, would taste different but you could replace the sparkling white wine with sparkling grape juice(or whatever flavor of sparkling juice you like ex. apple, white grape, etc). Then just leave out the triple sec and tequila. I would probably also leave out the lime juice. Good luck!
