Dark and Stormy… doesn’t the name just make you want to grab a fluffy blanket and curl up next to a fireplace with a stiff drink in hand? As we delve into crisp, chilly evenings, this Dark and Stormy Recipe is an easy, delicious cocktail that’s sure to warm up your insides and put a smile on your face.
WHAT IS A DARK AND STORMY COCKTAIL?
Traditionally made with dark rum, ginger beer and lime juice, this cocktail is actually the national drink of Bermuda. It’s very similar to the Original Moscow Mule Recipe (or a delicious and easy frozen alternative, the Moscow Mule Slush). And like the Moscow Mule, the Dark and Stormy can be dressed up a million different ways, like this Blackberry Dark and Stormy or this Pink and Stormy Cocktail.
WHAT IS THE BEST RUM TO USE IN A DARK AND STORMY RECIPE?
This recipe gets its name from the star ingredient: dark rum, the darker the better. I love Captain Morgan’s in this recipe, but you can use any dark rum you like. Rum lovers may also enjoy this Watermelon Rum Punch or this Pina Colada Rum Punch. And just like these more tropical flavors, this Dark and Stormy Recipe is a perfect drink to serve up no matter what temperature you’re in.
HOW TO MAKE DARK AND STORMY RECIPE
This silky smooth cocktail only requires three ingredients:
Dark Rum
Ginger Beer
Fresh Lime Juice (and a lime wedge for garnish)
For two cocktails, simply combine the dark rum with spicy ginger beer and the fresh juice of a lime. Mix together, then pour into two tall glasses filled with ice.
